Hosteria di Franco provides simple lodgings in Bucay where the Andes meet the Ecuadorian Pacific coastal plain.

This little countryside hotel on the fringe of Ecuador’s coastal plain east of Guayaquil may have been regarded as quite luxurious back in the day. It’s style and facilities do hark back to the 1970s, and guest rooms, while clean and bright, are certainly basic, but the property has local character and is perfectly comfortable for one night’s stay. A low rise property, its garden, foliage-covered walls, internal stone walls and polished tiled or wooden floors enhance its rustic qualities. There’s even a small pool and sauna, intermittent internet access The al fresco restaurant serves a choice of hot Cajun/Criole meals.
