A small boutique hotel in Cartagena’s walled city with a lovely rooftop terrace.

Ananda is a small, chic hotel on Calle del Cuartel, right in the heart of Cartagena’s walled city and within easy walking distance of its beautiful ornate churches and leafy plazas.

Built around a large central courtyard, the restored 17th century colonial mansion is a peaceful oasis in the middle of this vibrant (and hot!) Caribbean city.

The 23 well-appointed rooms and suites all feature air-con and offer interior views overlooking the courtyard or pool. Junior suites are more spacious, with a separate living area and a balcony overlooking the street.

Facilities include a good restaurant serving a Caribbean-inspired menu, a small swimming pool – but perfect for a refreshing dip – and a lovely rooftop terrace with views over the Old Town and Caribbean Sea. Guests also have access to complimentary bikes.

What our clients say

  • Most Memorable Moment?: Impossible to pick one place/moment.  A very varied and interesting few weeks.  Cartagena was definitely a highlight.

    SJA, Malvern Mar 2018
  • It was a superb trip, I don’t think our feedback really conveyed how much we enjoyed Colombia particularly. It really exceeded our expectations. Los Llanos was super superb.

    SM, Helensburgh Jul 2019
  • Our favourite organised trip was probably Cocora Valley. Absolutely stunning and the trek was tough, but well worth it. Our guide knew a lot about the wildlife and flowers too

    MB, Oxford Nov 2019
  • Highlight: Cartagena: as romantic a destination as I had hoped.

    DG, Sheffield Feb 2016
  • Highlights?: Coffee region and Tayrona, lovely people everywhere

    JM, St Albans Sep 2018
  • Barichara and the walk to Guane. Also the village of Raquira.
