Luxury ranch-style property set on working farmland amid magnificent Patagonian wilderness, combining the rugged feel of an estancia with the creature comforts of a first class hotel.

Eolo is set on working farmland and has a rugged, remote feel that is in perfect alignment with the spirit of the surrounding wild landscape. Designed to look like a large ranch house from the outside, it successfully combines the trappings of an estancia with the creature comforts, modern interior design and innovation of a first class hotel. The property is listed in the prestigious Relais & Chateaux portfolio.

The inviting guestrooms have enormous picture windows, and the russet, taupe and olive tones of the luxuriant yet rustic antique furnishings echo the colours of the natural world outside. There is a restaurant, an English-style bar, a small library and a comfortable sitting room with floor to ceiling panoramic windows to take in surrounding views. The relaxation area includes a sauna and an outdoor jacuzzi.

Eolo is a 20-minute drive from El Calafate airport on the road to the area's main attraction – the stunning Perito Moreno glacier, yet there is little sign of human influence in any direction. Perched on a hillside with magnificent, sweeping views across tawny steppes to the mountains on the horizon and Lago Argentino, the hotel is surrounded by a sprawl of endless plains, granite mountain peaks, turquoise lakes and glaciers.

The open expanse that surrounds Eolo lends itself well to horse riding (available at extra cost), borrowing one of the complimentary mountain bikes or simply walking from one staggering view to the next. Also available at extra cost are excursions to Perito Moreno glacier, boat trips on Lago Argentino and farm visits.

Our Expert's Opinion

One of my most memorable stays in Patagonia with a stunning location and incredible views, unpretentious luxury, excellent service, and some of the best meals that we had on our trip. Even the boxed lunch that they prepared for us for our day excursion to Perito Moreno was superb!
