Experience life in a Mexican rural community

Artisanal bread making in rural Mexico

Take part in an ecotourism initiative in the laid-back rural village of Benito Juarez.

In this tranquil, traditional area known for its rich concentration of flora and fauna such as salamanders, butterflies and colourful birds, a number of small villages have joined together to protect their environment through ecotourism.

You can experience village life for yourself in Benito Juarez, where guided hikes lead through unspoilt woodland opening out onto sweeping views of the surrounding valleys. Learn about medicinal plants, forage for mushrooms and eat a traditional meal of freshly caught trout before arriving at your lodgings in a spectacularly located hilltop cabin.

Please note: The project has remained closed to visitors since the 2020 pandemic. Please check with us if you are interested in this activity.
