Food is at the centre of Mexican family life, and has enormous cultural significance: far more than just nourishment, eating is a social event and a way of cementing and celebrating traditions.

This hands-on cooking experience takes in all aspects of creating a Mexican meal, from choosing ingredients at an authentic local market to serving and eating the food in a suitably social setting. You’ll prepare the food in a local kitchen in the traditional district of Xochimilco, under the motherly tuition of Doña Lupita. Finally, enjoy the fruits of your labour on board a colourful trajinera boat along the canals of the Floating Gardens, with lively accompaniment from troupes of mariachis.
