Gran Hotel Ciudad de Mexico
Elegant hotel in a prime location near the main square; a magnificent example of Art Nouveau architecture.
This well-located Gran Hotel Ciudad de Mexico – less than a block from the main square in the heart of the historical area – epitomises the elegance of a bygone era. It was built at the turn of the last century and the vast belle époque lobby is particularly striking with a beautiful stained glass ceiling, grand marble staircase, chandeliers and evocative wrought iron elevators.
The regally appointed guestrooms are set on four floors; suites have four-poster beds and some overlook the Zócalo. There are two restaurants, both popular with locals, as well as a cocktail lounge and roof terrace/bar.
