Converted farmhouse built in the traditional local style, offering a good introduction to Falklands life.

Darwin House is a converted farmhouse in an isolated spot on the ruggedly beautiful shores of Choiseul Sound. As the nearest accommodation to Mount Pleasant airport, it's a convenient place to begin your Falkland journey.

Built in the typical local style of wood and corrugated iron, the house offers an introduction to the islands' abundant wildlife, with heron, blackish oystercatchers, ruddy-headed and upland geese all frequently seen along the waterfront.

Owners Graham and Fiona are friendly and welcoming, and Graham is an enthusiastic and engaging guide offering battlefield tours. Darwin House can also arrange wildlife excursions and fishing.

There is a small selection of comfortable bedrooms with views over picturesque Darwin, Choiseul Sound and Wickham Heights. Facilities include a pub-style honesty bar, dining room serving home-cooked meals based on familiar British dishes and separate living room with TV, music and books. A particularly pleasant feature is the sunny conservatory which looks out over the bay.
