Large all-inclusive adults-only resort overlooking a lovely beach near Guadalavaca on Cuba's east coast.

Paradisus Rio de Oro is perched on a low cliff overlooking Playa Esmeralda, 5km from the resort of Guadalavaca with its swathes of beautiful white-sand beaches and horseshoe bays.

Belonging to the Spanish Meliá chain, the hotel is set in an attractive tropical garden and linked by a wooden bridge over a large pond to two sister properties.

Rooms are smartly decorated, many with murals, colourful rugs and textiles, equipped with modern amenities and a veranda or terrace. There are several semi-detached bungalows with a private terrace and outdoor shower, and two large private villas with private swimming pools.

There are numerous restaurants and bars to choose from, a large open-plan lounge and nightly entertainment. Leisure facilities include two pools  tennis courts, hot tub, sauna, massage and an array of water sports. The main beach is lovely, with hammocks slung between palms, and there are also semi-private coves that can be accessed through the grounds.

What our clients say

  • This is a brilliant place to stay.  Great service and food. Also, we were given a Cabana, even though we had not booked one.  We may very well return to…
