La Cusinga Ecolodge is an intimate family-run property swathed in jungle close to sweeping Pacific beaches.

Set on a hill within a private jungle reserve overlooking the Pacific Ocean, La Cusinga is a family-run ecolodge, accredited for its conservation and environmental efforts. There’s also an accent on wellness, and the property features a yoga studio. You stay in one of ten attractive individual wooden cottages, all with high ceilings and large stone bathrooms.

Each has its own private balcony with spectacular views out to the ocean, where passing dolphins and whales can be spotted. There’s a covered veranda for enjoying the ocean view. A 15 minute jungle walk where you can spot howler monkeys, sloths, and exotic birds leads to the lodge’s own private beach – beautifully secluded, with rainforest spilling on to the white sand. Food at the lodge is excellent, with a variety of fresh Costa Rican dishes, and there’s a selection of equally good restaurants in the nearby village.

What our clients say

  • Great mix of high adrenaline and chilled activities to suit all the family.

    JS, London Feb 2016
  • There were so many highlights it is difficult to single one out. The wildlife, around hotel gardens etc and not just in the reserves, was particularly impressive. Viewing it from…

    VC, South croydon Feb 2018
  • We always ask each other what the highlight was, but always fail.  It was really the variety.  There is really so much to remember.

    JS, Bath Mar 2017
  • Costa Rica as a whole was very impressive in its attitude towards eco-tourism. Actively reforesting areas that have previously been de-forested and setting up new areas of rain forest/park.

    BC, N19 Apr 2011
  • Highlight?: Visit to Tortuguero was exciting and remote. Rancho Margot was our favourite accommodation. It was a privilege to visit this beautiful country.

    MC, Arlesly Apr 2018
  • Highlights?: The drive Ranch Margot round Lake Arenal, staying there, seeing humming birds feeding from flowers a metre from our bungalow veranda, kayaking in the shadow of the amazing volcano.
