Arenal Nayara spa and gardens
Luxurious, multi-award-winning resort with a relaxed and rustic air, outstanding views of Arenal volcano and extensive grounds sheltering secluded, unashamedly romantic cottages.
The fertile mountain country north-west of San José, with tumbling rivers and thick tropical forest, provides an idyllic setting for Nayara Gardens, overlooked by the active Arenal volcano.
The meticulously maintained grounds of this award-winning property feature colourful gardens filled with tropical flowers, an ornamental lake and verdant woodland with a small creek below.
Nayara Gardens is one of three properties, sharing grounds with sister property, adults-only Nayara Springs. The grounds have become a sanctuary for wildlife following an extensive reforestation programme, including sloths, armadillos, howler and spider monkeys, as well as abundant birdlife.
Accommodation is ideal for families – spacious individual casitas and villas can sleep up to 4 people, with polished wooden floors, plunge pools and showers on private verandas, and floor-to-ceiling windows to fully appreciate the stunning surroundings. More spacious villas have wrap-around terraces with hammocks. In-room facilities include sofas, desks, coffee-makers, air-con and Wifi.
The hotel’s al fresco restaurant serves Latin American specialities in a spectacular hilltop location with views of Arenal volcano, while Asia Luna serves a range of Asian fusion dishes and there’s also a wine bar. Nayara's restaurants can be very popular in high season, so advanced reservations are recommended for dinner.
Nayara Gardens also has a hot tub with wet bar, a fitness room, a spa offering facials and massage treatments, and free yoga sessions. Optional activities available include river rafting, horse riding, ziplining, hiking. The resort also runs free bird-watching tours at dawn and frog scouting tours after dusk through its forested grounds.
