Etnia
Boutique sister hotels with a chic, understated aesthetic and just a handful of immaculately designed rooms.
Etnia's chic aesthetic is much in keeping with its location in the relaxed yet upmarket beach town of Trancoso.
It is an intimate boutique hotel immaculately designed in a simple, contemporary style that could be described as barefoot luxury. There are just eight whitewashed bungalows in the hotel's shaded tropical grounds of mango and banana trees. Each is individually furnished and inspired by a different part of the globe, from Africa to Asia. There's a delightful restaurant and bar area with fluttering white drapes, and a large swimming pool surrounded by a wooden deck and semi-open lounge. Trancoso's wonderful tropical beaches are a 20-minute walk away.

Our Expert's Opinion
Each of the exclusive bungalows has been beautifully and lovingly decorated, set within the lush tropical garden. After exploring the charming boutiques in town or taking a stroll along the kilometers of beach, my favorite part of the day was returning to the serenity of Etnia for a refreshing dip in the cooling pool. The staff and service are impeccable yet unpretentious, and they offer a menu of activities if relaxation in your bungalow becomes too much. Additionally, they have a fantastic shop in town with a variety of unique gifts to take home. It is genuinely a lovely place to stay.
