Visit a Mayan cave tomb

bel10-muknalcave-free

Take a guided tour of a mystical cave where the remains of the ‘Crystal Maiden' and other possible sacrificial victims were uncovered alongside ancient artifacts.

Actun Tunichil Muknal cave hides its mysteries deep within its intricate paths. After hiking and wading for over a kilometre within its subterranean depths, you’ll finally reach Mayan tombs where 1,000-year-old ceramics and human remains lie in their original undisturbed state. The best known of the entombed skeletons is that of a teenage girl known as the ‘Crystal Maiden’ – thanks to centuries of calcification, her bones appear to sparkle.
