The Hotel Das Cataratas Hotel is a large, elegant colonial-style property, formerly a 19th century palace. It has one of the most spectacular hotel settings in Latin America, overlooking the Iguazú Falls. There are 275 separate falls that plunge 60m over a 3km crescent.
(The hotel will be undergoing large scale renovations during much of 2008, and to avoid disruption we suggest you consider staying at the Sheraton Iguazú on the Argentine side during this time).
The Iguazú Falls lie at the border of Brazil and Argentina. Although the falls are mostly in Argentina, the views from the Brazilian side are all-encompassing and spectacular.
There are two main gateways to the falls - from Foz do Iguaçú in Brazil, and from Puerto Iguazú in Argentina,15km and 60km from the hotel respectively. The falls are also accessible from Ciudad del Este in Paraguay.
30 km away is Itaipú - the world's largest hydro- electric dam.. Visit it, or the Jesuit ruins of San Ignacio in Argentina, and to the Parque das Aves, a bird sanctuary close to the park entrance. |
