Location

Casa Palopo is located just outside the small, highland village of Santa Catarina Palopo and adjoined to the main road by a fairly steep track. The hotel enjoys a secluded and stunning location with breathtaking views overlooking Lake Atitlan and its surrounding volcanoes.

The main town on the lake is Panajachel and 7km away. The best means of getting into town is arranging a taxi from reception. The international airport in Guatemala City is a three-hour drive by private transport.

There are several local Indian villages to visit including Solola with its colourful Tuesday and Friday local market. There are other markets in the highlands, the most popular being the Thursday and Sunday markets at Chichicastenango, an hour's drive from 'Pana'.
