The Marvels Of Machu Picchu And The Sacred Valley

Surely right near the top of the world’s must-see destinations, the thrilling Inca citadel of Machu Picchu and the enchanting Sacred Valley of the Incas can now be enjoyed from top-class, original properties which we reckon are worth staying at in their own right. We were delighted by the sleek and seamless management at these properties, which have been created for visitors who cherish and respect the natural environment.

Villa Berta and Villa Sonia

The terracotta Villas at Urubamba in the Sacred Valley are located on a private property 10 minutes’ drive towards the valley walls from the town, in an extensive garden.

They are rather like upmarket country cottages in concept, with deep sofas, beamed ceilings, log fires and subtle Inca-inspired décor. Exclusivity and privacy are the watchwords here - wake up to the sounds of birdsong, not the rattle of suitcase wheels on the cobbles of a larger hotel. The friendly staff prepare and serve your evening meal for you in your own kitchen/dining room - mouth-watering country cooking using local ingredients - we loved the change from restaurant food.

We’ve Been There

"We were two couples staying here - perfect. The villas suits parties of friends or families for whom seclusion in a beautiful setting, at relatively low altitude, is the ideal base from which to explore the Inca and Spanish colonial heritage."
Claire Milner, Client Information Manager.

Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel

This charming hotel below the ruins at Machu Picchu has secured a worldwide reputation, which we can happily endorse, for its professionalism and eco-friendly practices.

Accommodation is in delightful white-washed cottages scattered throughout a densely-vegetated, hummingbird-filled tropical garden. Many of the large, sunny rooms have balconies or verandas and all a usable log fire - a real highlight after a tiring day exploring. The restaurant serves from an imaginative menu and there is a riverside café, lecture hall, traditional sauna and outdoor pool. Bird-watching and nature walks among the orchids are offered in the morning.

We’ve Been There

"Definitely good to spend more than one night here, fully to enjoy the facilities and tranquil rainforest setting of the resort, as well as the chance to explore the once-in-a-lifetime visit to Machu Picchu at leisure."
Isabelle Mazille, Product Manager.
