Tambopata Research Centre and Salt Lick Madre de Dios Daily from Puerto Maldonado 5 days, 4 nights The Tambopata Research Centre The lodge here is situated in the pristine rainforest of the Bahuaja Sonene National Park, a short boat ride from what is reputedly the world’s largest macaw clay lick (ccolpa), which can be visited by up to six species of macaw and throngs of parakeets, creating an unforgettable spectacle of colour and sound. You will have two dawn opportunities to witness this display. The first and last nights will be spent at the Refugio Amazonas, 3½ hours by motorised canoe from Puerto Maldonado and 4 hours upstream from the lodge.
