Peruvian Amazon Excursion - Deep Jungle Lodge and Canopy Walkway Daily from Iquitos 5 days, 4 nights Travel 80km by fast ‘riverbus’ launch to Explorama Lodge. Next day, continue downstream on the Amazon, then upstream on the Río Napo, to arrive at Explornapo Lodge - 160km from Iquitos. From here, there is an overnight expedition to the Canopy Walkway at the nearby ACTS (Amazon Centre for Tropical Species) laboratory. Spanning 500m the steel passerelle connects several tree platforms 36m above the forest floor and allows you to observe the flora and fauna from a tree top perspective. Follow jungle trail to a tambo - a single raised split-palm open-sided structure with palm leaf roof and sleeping mats. Dinner is cooked over a log fire on the ground. Night walk to a ccolpa clay lick to see animals that are rarely seen by day. Hike back to Explornapo Lodge and thence to Explorama Lodge. On the last morning, visit the Missouri Botanical Gardens bushmaster trails - the highest biodiversity of trees in the world. Return to Iquitos.
