Cultural and Culinary Highlights of Mexico

The historical and culinary delights of Mexico City and Oaxaca

Daily from Mexico City
9 days, 8 nights

Day 1 Arrive in Mexico City for your stay in the fashionable W Hotel in Polanco. Ultra-modern in design, the W has 237 large cherry wood rooms,  cable TV/DVD,  and vast luxury bathrooms with hammocks. The hotel has a seafood restaurant, a popular bar, and a large spa with a traditional 'temazcal' adobe sauna.

Days 2-5 Explore the Mexican capital both with your guide and at your leisure: the historic centre, colourful Xochimilco canals, Frida Kahlo’s house, and the Teotihuacan pyramids.  You’ll have plenty of time to enjoy traditional and modern Mexican cuisine in the many superb eateries on offer; from informal lunchtime business person's taco cantinas to first-class restaurants serving dishes from seafood to spicy local dishes.

Day 6-9 Fly south to Oaxaca, for 3 nights at beautiful Hacienda Los Laureles.  This 100-year old converted mansion is full of character, with shady garden, outdoor pool and spa. In addition to exploring the local area and visiting the impressive hilltop site of Monte Alban, Oaxaca's colonial centre and Santo Domingo museum, your special package includes a shopping tour with the hotel’s chef to a local market (with explanation of all the local produce) and up to 4 hours of cookery classes on the hotel's garden terrace.
