This inspiring trip brings together the romance of a cruise which is a real nautical experience with the magic of a visit to the wildlife wonderland of the Galápagos Islands, isolated in the sun-blessed Pacific, carefully protected from the influence of man.
The whole family will delight in the retro-style of the MV Evolution, a first-class yacht with classic wooden furnishings and stylish ornamental funnels. Family departures feature kayaking, special shorter walks, swimming, meals and guide especially for children.
But the islands speak for themselves - teeming with marine and airborne creatures from prehistoric iguanas to graceful albatrosses and comical boobies, all so trusting that you can get within touching distance (don’t touch, of course!). Swim and snorkel with the sea-lions, wonder at the strange landscapes of volcanic cones, twisted lava and tropical forest, and, with the help of excellent bilingual guides, learn about this marvellous chapter in the Earth’s natural history.
We’ve been there
"Especially attractive to children on board was the little pool, and loads of enthusiastic consideration from the crew. I was impressed by a slick operation, huge choice of food, and attention to detail throughout." Lina Fuller, Travel Consultant.
A bit more time?
Spend a couple of days in the atmospheric colonial capital, Quito, and for more wildlife, head down to the Amazon jungle, based at a comfortable lodge.
Weather Watch
From December to June humidity is high with average temperatures of 26-30°C. There may be showers, but it is generally sunny. From June to November you may get some light misty drizzle. Temperatures average 20-24° C and the sea-water is cooler but it’s the best time to see aquatic life.
Top Tip
If you are travelling in the cool water months Jul to Sep) you may wish to hire wetsuits for your children (advise us in advance) so they can spend as much time swimming as they like.
