Fundo Chacaipulli is a working farm with cattle, sheep and areas of forest spread over its 430 picturesque acres. Owned by a welcoming English couple, the farm employs local people who manage the livestock and horses.
The timber farmhouse is situated on a steep cliff. A recent addition is the Acraucaria lodge that can accommodate families or larger groups.
The farmhouse has a bar and dining area where typical Chilean cuisine is served. Your days will be spent enjoying some of the activities on offer at the farm.
These include horse-riding (there are scenic rides through surrounding woods and fields and along the San Pedro River) or you can help the farm workers round up sheep and cattle. There is an art workshop, with classes in oil painting, drawing and printmaking. The area is also an interesting one for bird watchers.
It is possible to extend your stay to include a fly fishing trip, or a 2-day rafting expedition on the Río San Pedro. Other options, such as combining your stay at Chacaipulli with a trip through the Andes and into Argentina can also be organised. |
