Explore the lake district at the pace of your choice, driving your own hire car (4WD or pick-up) along scenic paved and gravel roads but with the security of a structured itinerary and prebooked hotels.

Your hotels have been selected to allow you to visit the most attractive beauty spots in the area, including hot springs (one night is spent at the hotel at Huife, offering large outdoor thermal baths and massages), primeval forests, the skirts of snowtipped volcanoes, and pretty lakeside towns such as Frutillar.

The suggested itinerary involves about 700km of driving, so you have plenty of time to pull up and enjoy panoramic view or enjoy a picnic beside a tumbling stream. The suggested itinerary has 2 nights in Pucon, one in Huife, 2 in Huilo Huilo and one in the Bavarian-style resort of Puerto Varas.

If you wish, of course, you can drive further, as long as you arrive each night at the preordained accommodation.
