Trek from the altiplano to the subtropics Daily from La Paz 4 days, 3 nights This is a mostly downhill walk from La Paz to the small subtropical town of Coroico. Drive to la Cumbre, and walk uphill to a pass at 4850m dividing the barren, snow-swept mountains of the Cordillera Real. Continue down an Inca paved road through ever more succulent vegetation. The final hours of the trek take you through citrus groves and coffee plantations. Return to la Paz from Coroico. If you don’t have time or energy for the trek, you can visit this area – the Yungas – by road, a heart-stopping route carved out of the cliffs (3-4 hours each way). We recommend  you spend a night in Coroico before the return trip.
